Another Card

from the July Card Kit…

Everything’s from the card kit except the hemp twine – I got that in the sewing section at WalMart…and I love it. ;)  Edges are inked with Walnut Distress Ink, diagonal corners are rounded with the We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

I slacked off…

and made a card today. :)

I used papers from the July card kit from and some random embellishments that I had stashed in the single craft box I’ve unpacked.  The flowers are from Recollection, the ribbon is just the Michael’s satin stuff, and the letter stickers are…Doodlebug? I think?

For the inside of the card, I used one of the stamps from the kit.  It says “you are absolutely DELIGHTFUL” and I heart it tons. The mat paper is from the kit, but the pink layer on top is from some random pink card stock. No clue where I got it… The edges are inked with distress inks. I’m not entirely pleased with how it came out, but I think it’ll do!

We’re moved.

The move has been completed. We hand in the keys to the old place tomorrow and all that’s left to do at the new place is some unpacking of odds & ends.  Ok, it’s a lot of odds & ends, and we’re not unpacking the decorative stuff until our new sofa and entertainment center have arrived.  So it’ll still be a while before we can say we’re through and settled, but at least we’re HERE!

The new place is awesome. It’s a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment with all rooms on one floor. The building has elevators so getting around is a lot easier for me. I have a parking spot right next to the elevator and our apartment is fairly close to it as well, so it works nicely.  Also, we’re on the 1st floor (though not at ground level, since the garage is underground plus half a floor), so we can play with the dogs at night without worrying about our downstairs neighbors being bothered…because there are no downstairs neighbors! That also means we can do laundry and run the dishwasher whenever we need to.

The dogs have already settled in nicely and they loooove the place.  Recon is so much more relaxed and Sage is doing what Sage always does…sleep a lot and antagonize Recon when she’s awake. ;)

Geekling is another story.  All this disruption plus some pretty brutal teething has set him on edge and he’s just not sure which way to go or what to do or how to do it.

The most epic of all epic things, though, is that the day we moved into the apartment, Geekling learned to WALK!  It’s pretty awesome. :)

I’ve been avoiding packing boxes and instead of doing that or napping while the baby naps, I made cards.  The first one took me about 30 minutes; I got the June card kit from and had to try out the papers and embellishments that came.  It was fun!

Everything used was from the card kit except the white faux stitching (Sigmo White Gel Pen) and the kraft base under the banners (I believe it’s just Kraft paper from Michael’s…can’t remember).

Obviously there’s still a half ton of supplies left, so I’ll be making quite a few cards or perhaps using some of the bits and pieces on a layout or two.  I’m pleased so far, and I really want to see the July kit!

I like this 2nd card better, to be honest.  The colors are bright and it was just a ton of fun to make – easy peasy, too. The square focal image in the middle is done with various brands of Washi (or Washi style) tape – some are Target, some are Trendy Tape, and I think one is something else, but I can’t remember…hrm.

Anyhow! It’s just a 3″ x 3″ square mounted on a little black card stock and popped up on foam adhesive. The sentiment is from the Michael’s dollar bin…as is the flower embellishment in the middle.  The twine is doodlebug from SimonSaysStamp and the base is plain white Bazzil cardstock.

And now…I think I’d better go clean the kitchen or make some boxes pack themselves. ;)
