My first card with the SSS August Kit

I think it came out alright.  I did use stamps from a different set from what came with the kit…

Also used a ton of distress inks on the tag.  I think everything else came out of the kit, though.  I do love the monthly card kid situation… it makes it so easy to throw a card together since everything’s all nicely coordinated.  It also helps inspire me to make cards from stuff -not- in the kit.  And since I have a ton of stuff that was just sitting there unused, that’s most definitely a good thing.

Anywho, here’s the card:

I slacked off…

and made a card today. :)

I used papers from the July card kit from and some random embellishments that I had stashed in the single craft box I’ve unpacked.  The flowers are from Recollection, the ribbon is just the Michael’s satin stuff, and the letter stickers are…Doodlebug? I think?

For the inside of the card, I used one of the stamps from the kit.  It says “you are absolutely DELIGHTFUL” and I heart it tons. The mat paper is from the kit, but the pink layer on top is from some random pink card stock. No clue where I got it… The edges are inked with distress inks. I’m not entirely pleased with how it came out, but I think it’ll do!

I’ve been avoiding packing boxes and instead of doing that or napping while the baby naps, I made cards.  The first one took me about 30 minutes; I got the June card kit from and had to try out the papers and embellishments that came.  It was fun!

Everything used was from the card kit except the white faux stitching (Sigmo White Gel Pen) and the kraft base under the banners (I believe it’s just Kraft paper from Michael’s…can’t remember).

Obviously there’s still a half ton of supplies left, so I’ll be making quite a few cards or perhaps using some of the bits and pieces on a layout or two.  I’m pleased so far, and I really want to see the July kit!

I like this 2nd card better, to be honest.  The colors are bright and it was just a ton of fun to make – easy peasy, too. The square focal image in the middle is done with various brands of Washi (or Washi style) tape – some are Target, some are Trendy Tape, and I think one is something else, but I can’t remember…hrm.

Anyhow! It’s just a 3″ x 3″ square mounted on a little black card stock and popped up on foam adhesive. The sentiment is from the Michael’s dollar bin…as is the flower embellishment in the middle.  The twine is doodlebug from SimonSaysStamp and the base is plain white Bazzil cardstock.

And now…I think I’d better go clean the kitchen or make some boxes pack themselves. ;)

Mommy CRAFT Time

I’ve decided that at least one day a week, I’m going to set aside time to do some crafting.  It’s a little absurd that I have ALL THIS STUFF and I never use it.  Granted, most of it was packed up because of that whole move-into-a-rental-house fiasco in August of 2011.  Ha. Yeah. That.

Anyway…I made this today:

Please excuse the crappy photo and cropping.  I’m still not a pro at Josh’s camera.  It’s a bit sloppy – I haven’t done any card making in a YEAR (OMG!) and I was rushing to finish during Geekling’s nap.  At any rate, I think it’s pretty decent despite all that.

I used a card sketch from Freshly Made  Sketches as the inspiration for the card:

I think I’m going to be doing more of these. It was a ton of fun!
